Director of Pharmacy

Austin Burris joined Asheville Neurology Specialists in May of 2022 and serves as Director of Pharmacy.  In this role, he oversees the in-house pharmacy and works closely with the clinical team to support patients with neurological conditions.

Originally from Ohio, Austin attended Heidelberg College, where he studied chemistry and biology and played collegiate soccer. He went on to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. He began his career as a pharmacy intern with Walgreens and spent 19 years with the company, ultimately serving as Pharmacist in Charge. Throughout his tenure, he gained extensive experience in medication management, patient counseling, and pharmacy operations. In 2020, he relocated from Columbus, Ohio, to Asheville.

At Asheville Neurology Pharmacy, Austin values the opportunity to spend more time with patients and provide individualized medication guidance. He works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers and the care team to support medication management, specialty treatments, and insurance authorization needs. He is also available to answer questions about medications prescribed, helping patients better understand their medications and treatment plans.

Outside of work, Austin enjoys motorcycles, hiking, camping, photography, and traveling. He and his wife, Sarah, share their home with three cats.
