Electroencephalogram (EEG) Department The Electroencephalogram (EEG or brain wave test) provides important information about the health and function of the brain. The test is performed by our registered technologist who will apply an adhesive paste to key locations on the head. These electrodes have wires leading to the EEG machine. The machine picks up electrical impulses in your brain and records them to a computer which amplifies the signals and stores them. Later, one of our neurologists will interpret these signals. The test takes approximately an hour to perform and is painless. Our EEG technologist is Denise Lawless who is an active member of the American Board of Registration of Electroenephalographic Technologists since 1978.
